Issue/Introduction

When trying to install robot 9.40 or higher on Solaris 10 the following error is seen when running the pkgadd command to install the nimsoft-robot-sparcv9 package:

Error     01/09/2025 14:57:02   ld.so.1: nimbus: fatal: libc.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
Error     01/09/2025 14:57:02   ld.so.1: nimbus: fatal: libc.so.1: version 'SUNWpublic' not found (required by file /opt/nimsoft/bin/nimbus)

Environment

  • DX UIM - Robot 9.40 or higher
  • Solaris 10  (SunOS 5.10)

Cause

  • Incompatibility

Resolution

DX UIM Robot 9.36 is the highest version which supports Solaris 10.

Solaris 11 is required for Robot 9.40 and higher.

This error occurs when the installer for Robot 9.40 or higher is run on Solaris 10

If you are trying to install a new Robot 9.36 on a Solaris 10 system, follow the steps below:

1. Conact support to obtain these two files:

    nimldr-9.36.tar.Z

    install_SOLARIS_10_sparcv9-9.36.zip

Then transfer both files to the target Solaris 10 system.

2. Rename "install_SOLARIS_10_sparcv9-9.36.zip" to "install_SOLARIS_10_sparcv9.zip" on the Solaris 10 system.

3. Unpack the "nimldr-9.36.tar.Z" file and use nimldr to deploy robot 9.36 as documented here:  Installing a UNIX or Linux robot with nimldr

Note that you should answer YES to the following question:

Do we have the installation file locally? ==>[no]

You will then be prompted for a path and you should provide the path where you have placed the (now renamed) install_SOLARIS_10_sparcv9.zip file.

Additional Information

  • Please note that if you are trying to install the robot using nimldr v9.36 and having trouble, you can try using nimldr v23.4.3 which is downloadable from support.nimsoft.com.

    • Caveat: as long as it is a SPARC based Solaris.

    • Also note that Solaris-i386 and Solaris-AMD64 are no longer supported by the 23.x robot.
