Unable to run interactive software installs via the SW portal while using RDP for SW published in a Managed Software Delivery policy

Issue/Introduction

Technicians logged into a client computer remotely using RDP would request software via the software portal, but when the policy arrived and ran, it did not show the expected interactive user interface for software installation and configuration. 

Environment

Software Management versions 8.7.2 and 8.7.3

Cause

Known issue.

Resolution

This issue has been fixed in our ITMS 8.8 release.

For those with ITMS 8.7.3 release, refer to the pointfix available under KB 382575 "CUMULATIVE POST ITMS 8.7.3 POINT FIXES"

Workaround for other versions:

  1. Download the attached file to the Notification Server (SMP)
  2. Open an elevated (administrator) command prompt and run these commands:
    1. cd "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin\Tools\"
    2. ImportExportUtil.exe /import "<path to downloaded file>\Fixed_SoftwarePortal.xml"
  3. Test to verify software portal using an RDP login session
