Issue/Introduction

This diagnostic finding is shown on the UI because the cluster seems to be idle.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0

VSAN 9.0

Cause

The diagnostic engine classifies a cluster as idle if the average IOPS serviced during the selected time period is < 100. Running scans on idle vSAN clusters will generate inconclusive results.

 

The diagnostic finding will show two charts - one each for read and write IOPS on the cluster.

Resolution

If you want to run a troubleshooting type of scan, make sure the VMs on the cluster are powered on and are running IOs actively. If you want to run a benchmarking type of scan, please check the configuration of your benchmarking tool to ensure it’s configured to generate sufficient IOPS.
