Issue/Introduction

The ISG Proxy has the option to manage the license by itself including the auto-update license function.

There are certain conditions on when the auto-update of the license will happen.

Resolution

There are conditions when the auto-update will happen based on the documentation below.

Licensing commands.

(config)# licensing auto-update

Enable or disable licenses stored in the license inventory to automatically update. When auto-update for licenses is enabled, an update is scheduled when:

1. license or birth certificate expires in 30 days (scheduled to update 1 day later)
2. license or birth certificate expires in 31 to 60 days (scheduled to update 30 days before the expiry date)
3. license or birth certificate expires in 61+ days (scheduled to update after 30 days)
4. An update attempt cannot be completed (scheduled to update 1 day later)

For example, if the license expires within 30 days, the proxy application will auto-update the license the next day until it does not expire in 30 days.

If the auto-update is disabled and then enabled back, in the context of the license expiring within 30 days, the proxy application will try to update the license the next day, not immediately after enabling the auto-update feature.
