Issue/Introduction

  • This log spew occurs for VLAN backed segments.
  • On the NSX Manager , there are multiple log entries in the log file var/log/syslog as below:
    2024-12-12T07:12:02.696Z nsx-manager-example.com NSX 2342 - [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-controller" level="WARNING" subcomp="l2AppUfo"] Failed to find or create logical entry LogicalSwitchId:[id=########-####-####-####-##########ab12, vni=-1]
  • Note that the UUID (########-####-####-####-##########ab12) is the one for VLAN backed segment 

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware NSX-T Datacenter

Cause

These are VLAN based switches. L2 app ignores creating an L2 table entry for them and prints this warning as a result.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 4.2.2 and above, available at Broadcom downloads. If having difficulty finding and downloading software, please review the Download Broadcom products and software KB.

Additional Information

This is a known issue impacting VMware NSX, this is a false positive without impact to the performance or datapath.
