Issue/Introduction

  • This log spew occurs for VLAN backed segments.
  • On the NSX Manager , there are multiple log entries in the log file var/log/syslog as below:
    2024-12-12T07:12:02.696Z nsx-manager-example.com NSX 2342 - [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-controller" level="WARNING" subcomp="l2AppUfo"] Failed to find or create logical entry LogicalSwitchId:[id=########-####-####-####-##########ab12, vni=-1]
  • Note that the UUID (########-####-####-####-##########ab12) is the one for VLAN backed segment

Cause

These are VLAN based switches. L2 app ignores creating an L2 table entry for them and prints this warning as a result

Resolution

This is a known issue impacting VMware NSX. Please note that this is a false positive, without impact to the performance or datapath.
