Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

On a new setup, the deployment of database using DSM failed with below error.

"Error creating resource: admission webhook "vpostgrescluster.kb.io" denied the request: InfrastructurePolicyBinding.infrastructure.dataservices.vmware.com "aidsm-infra-policy" not found."

Cause

VMware Data Services Manager requires an S3-compatible storage solution. The recommended size of the S3-compatible storage depends on the size of data backups and retention policy. The errors are expected to see when the S3 compatible storage is not configured.

Resolution

MinIO Object storage can be used on provider storage if there is no S3 compatible storage available.

VMware Data Services Manager requires an S3-compatible storage solution. 

The recommended size of the S3-compatible storage depends on the size of data backups and retention policy.

Before you deploy VMware Data Services Manager, configure and deploy S3-compatible storage and create the following buckets:

• A bucket for Provider Logs
• A bucket for Provider Backups
• Database backup storage

These endpoints must be resolvable by the DNS server specified at the time of Provider VM deployment.
