After setting up Foreign Data Wrappers, query against foreign table fail with "ERROR; password is required"

Issue/Introduction

 

ERROR:  password is required
DETAIL:  Non-superuser cannot connect if the server does not request a password.
HINT:  Target server's authentication method must be changed.

Cause

This error is caused by known GPSS product defect affecting GPSS versions that are shipped with GPDB 6.27.1 and later.

Resolution

Upgrading to GPSS 2.0

Additional Information

GPDB versions 6.27.1 and above are exposed to this error, and so when running the same case on GPDB 6.27.0 or earlier, it is not throwing this error.
