vSphere-UI heap memory reverts to original value post patch of vCenter

Issue/Introduction

After the vCenter patch activity the heap memory of the vSphere-ui reverts back to it's default value

For example:

# cloudvm-ram-size -l | grep -i vsphere-ui

Environment

VMware vCenter 7.x

VMware vCenter 8.x

 

Resolution

The observed behavior of the cloudvm-ram-size command is expected. By design the vCenter heap memory value reverts back to the default value.

Retaining configuration is currently not supported during patching. The rpms will overwrite the configuration to a newer value.
