Issue/Introduction

Failed to create snapshots of replica devices. Failed to create snapshot of replica consistency group {PGroupLabel}. SRA command 'testFailoverStart' failed for consistency group {ConsistencyGroupLabel}. The RAID Manager command(pairdisplay etc ...) has failed with RC=XXX. Remove a cause of an error after confirming with an error code of RAID Manager and command error log messages output in this log file as below.

Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Site Recovery Manager 8.x 

Cause

  • The Error occurs if SRA "DiscoverDevices" command fails to connect with Storage Array, This is an error thrown by a SRA.
  • If Storage Array is unable to connect to SRA, Array Pair details on SRM will not be updated.
  • The connection between SRA and storage is affected because the RAID manager command failed.

    From the logs /var/log/vmware/srm/vmware-dr.log,

  • The RAID Manager command (pairdisplay) failed, indicating that the issue is on the RAID Manager side, rather than SRM or VMware configurations.

 

Resolution

It is recommended that customers direct any SRA issues to the SRA vendor for their initial investigation, as per Broadcom SRA troubleshooting policy.
