Backup and restore support for NSX autonomous edges in high availability mode

Issue/Introduction

• As of the current implementation for NSX autonomous edge, backup/restore is not supported when high availability is enabled.
• Backup/restore is supported as long as it is within the same autonomous edge or between autonomous edges that don’t have secondary edges attached. 

Environment

VMware NSX 4.x

Resolution

Backup and restore of NSX autonomous edges in high availability mode is only supported in the following sequence scenario:

1. Deploy an autonomous edge node.
2. Attach a secondary node to the previously deployed primary node.
3. Perform a backup of the primary node followed by a restore.
