Error: 'The task was canceled by a user' while trying to create custom portal themes in VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

• Trying to create custom portal themes in VMware Cloud Director UI, the uploaded branding theme operation times out after more than 1 hour running.
  
  
• It fails with an error:
  com.vmware.vcloud.api.presentation.service.TaskCanceledException: The task was canceled by a user.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.0

Cause

The creation of Custom portal theme creation fails in the UI because the Public Addresses and Base URL is not configured for VMware Cloud Director Appliance in the Public Address page. This configuration is mandatory for the Custom Themes to work.

Resolution

To resolve the issue:

1. Navigate to Administration > Public Address using the System Administrator account inside VMware Cloud Director UI.
2. Edit the page where it is written Web Poral and enter the HTTP Base URL and the HTTPS Base URL.
3. Now edit the page to enter the API details and enter the HTTP Base URL and the HTTPS Base URL.
4. Go back to Customize Portal and then create the theme from Branding and Theme Page.
