Aria Operations for Logs VIP IP cannot be pinged when hosted on VMware NSX

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• After configuring the VMware Aria Operations for Logs integrated load balancer (ILB), you discover that you are not able to ping the VIP IP despite it being assigned to a node.
• Aria Operations for Logs is hosted on an NSX segment.

Environment

• VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.x
• VMware NSX-T 3.x
• VMware NSX 4.x

Cause

Aria Operations for Logs uses Direct Server Return to implement its load balancer and is not compatible with NSX IP Discovery.

Resolution

If you are using VMware Aria Operations for Logs with NSX, verify that the Enable IP Discovery option is deactivated on the NSX logical switch.
