Issue/Introduction

Compression is enabled by default on vSAN ESA clusters. There can be scenarios where customers do not want to use this feature.

Cause

Compression is enabled by default on vSAN ESA because of space-saving and performance improvement benefits. However, in certain situations, this feature may not be desired.

Resolution

Deduplication and compression settings are controlled in the space efficiency section under Storage Rules in vSAN storage policies. To disable the use of compression, choose the "No space efficiency" option.
