Modifying the storage policy for an existing replication utilizing independent disks fails; transitioning to a Replication Tracking Virtual Machine (RT VM) is necessary to successfully perform this operation.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.x

Cause

This happens due to broken status of the RT VM leading to unsuccessful authentication of the RT VM.

Resolution

To resolve this matter perform the following actions:

  1. Login to the Cloud Director Availability Provider UI.
  2. Navigate to the Incoming Replications page.
  3. Select the checkbox beside the replication which shows the Invalid RT VM status.
  4. Click on "All Actions -> Reconfigure Replication Tracking". This will attempt to repair the invalid RT VM state.

If the above action fails to resolve the matter, proceed to the below steps.

Note: Snapshot of all Cloud Director Availability Appliances is advised

Perform below steps from Cloud Director Availability UI:

  1. Delete the RT VM from Cloud Director Availability
  2. Recreate the configuration for that VM
  3. RT VM shows healthy state now
