NSX Edge graceful failover does not occur after rebooting an edge node or restarting the dataplane service.

• An NSX Edge is rebooted, or the dataplane service is restarted via the restart service dataplane CLI command.
• Graceful failover does not occur.
• An interruption in routing among the NSX Edge's BGP peers may be observed.

Resolution

This is a condition that may occur in a VMware NSX environment.

 

Workaround

Use Edge Maintenance Mode for graceful failover in order to bring down remote BGP and BFD sessions immediately as Edge reboot or restart may not.

Additional Information

Use Edge Maintenance Mode for graceful failover as workaround. This applies to all versions of Edge.
