Issue/Introduction

Error: 403-Forbidden. User is not authorized to perform this operation on the application. Please contact the system administrator to get access.

When applying remediation through Intelligent Assist for VMware vDefend, the NSX user must have write permissions to IDS/IPS and DFW policies.

Environment

Applies to all versions of Intelligent Assist for VMware vDefend.

Cause

This error occurs when a user without the necessary write permissions attempts to apply remediation.

Resolution

  • Possible Resolutions:

    1. Request permissions elevation to the current user:

    • Contact an NSX Admin with elevated permissions to grant write access to the current user.
    • Ensure the user is granted write permissions for IDS/IPS and DFW policies.
    • Retry the remediation process using Intelligent Assist.

    2. Request the NSX Admin to apply remediation using Intelligent Assist

    • Contact an NSX (Enterprise, Network, or Security) Admin with elevated permissions to create IDS/IPS and DFW policies.
    • Request the admin to join the Intelligent Assist chat session and apply the remediation.
