Issue/Introduction

1. Reconfiguring legacy replications to use enhanced replication fails with the error -

A replication error occurred at the vSphere Replication Server for replication 'Repl-Test'. Details: 'No connection to VR Server for virtual machine Repl-Test on host esxi.lab.local in cluster Source Site in cloud: Unknown'.

2. You can create NEW replications to use Enhanced mode.

3. You can also flip from Enhanced replication to Legacy replication mode.

Environment

vSphere Replication 9.x
VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Cause

Software code in the replication appliance has a fault that needs to be updated.

Resolution

ALERT: This issue has been fixed in vSphere Replication 9.0.2.1 | 04 DEC 2024 | Build 24404698

Workaround

1. Reconfigure the replication to use Enable network encryption for VR data in Legacy mode

2. Reconfigure the replication to use Enhanced replication mode

NOTE: Reconfiguring replication with these options in one go will fail with the same error.
