Issue/Introduction

You want to create a New Outbound Connector

Environment

DLP 16.x

Resolution

Login to https://admin.exchange.com

  1. Select Mailflow
  2. Click connectors.                                                                                                                                           
  3. Click + to add a connector.                                                                                                                                                                                                               
  4. Click from Microsoft 365 and to Partner organization                                                                           
  5. Click Next.
  6. Give your Outbound Connector a name in the Name field. You can optionally fill in the Description field with a label such as "Connector for sending email to DLP."                                               
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select Only when I have a transport rule set up that redirects messages to this connector. Click Next
    .
  9. Click Route mail through these smart hosts.                                                                                                   
  10. Add the Cloud Detector (SMTP Smarthost) URL from your Symantec Data Loss Prevention Cloud Service for Email welcome letter. You can also find this Cloud Detector URL at the Enforce Server administration console at System > Servers and Detectors > Overview > Server > Detector Detail page, under DETECTOR FQDN.
  11. Click +
  12. Select Always use Transport Layer Security (TLS) to secure the connection (recommended) on the next New connector page, under How should Microsoft 365 connect to your partner organization's email server?                                                                                                                         
  13. Select Issued by a trusted certificate authority (CA), under Connect only if the recipient's email server certificate matches this criteria.
  14. Check the box next to And the subject name or subject alternative name (SAN) matches this domain name and enter the Cloud Detector (SMTP Smarthost) URL that is indicated in the Symantec Data Loss Prevention Cloud Service for Email welcome letter. This value is the same as the DETECTOR FQDN on the Server > Detector Detail page in the Enforce Server administration console.
  15. Click Next.
  16. Enter your Validation email: "You can use any email as it doesn't matter."                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              
  17. Click validate.  "It will fail, this is expected"
  18. Click Next                                                                                                                                                     
  19. Click “Yes, Proceed”
  20. The Mail Flow Scenario will be displayed:                                                                                                       
  21. Select “Create Connector”                                                                                                                             
  22. Connector is now Created.
