Issue/Introduction

While trying to retrieve PostGIS 'geometry' type data from PostgreSQL via PXF, getting below error:

ERROR:  PXF server error : Field type 'UNSUPPORTED_TYPE' (column 'ColumnDescriptor [dbColumnTypeCode=919687, dbColumnName=geom, dbColumnTypeName=geometry, dbColumnIndex=1, dbColumnTypeModifiers=null, isProjected=true]') is not supported
HINT:  Check the PXF logs located in the '/usr/local/pxf-gp7/logs' directory on host 'localhost' or 'set client_min_messages=LOG' for additional details.

Resolution

PostGIS 'geometry' type data is NOT supported by PXF.
