Issue/Introduction

When attempting to create a Raid-5 or Raid-6 storage policy you get the following error:

RAID-5/6 (Erasure Coding) - Capacity requires an All flash configuration

When attempting to set the storage tier to Hybrid you get the following error:

Raid-5/6 (Erasure Coding) - Capacity requires an All flash configuration

Environment

vSAN Hybrid cluster

Cause

To use RAID-5/6 (Erasure Coding) you must have a all flash cluster
Hybrid clusters do not support RAID-5/6 (Erasure Coding)

Resolution

For hybrid clusters you are limited to Raid 1 storage policy or you must convert the hardware to an All Flash cluster to use Raid-5/6
