Unable to change disk from thin to thick

Issue/Introduction

Following the change setting a disk from thin to thick in vSphere it still shows as thin.

When setting a vmdk provisioning as "Thick - Lazy Zeroed" on a vmdk smaller than 1 MB the provisioning option is either unavailable or no change occurs following storage migration or VM provisioning change.

 

Environment

ESXi 7.x
ESXi 8.x

Resolution

The only resolution to allow the vmdk to become Thick Provisioned Lazy Zeroed is to increase size to 1 MB or larger.
