Unregister action failing in Aria Automation with error "Resource [id] not found"

Issue/Introduction

Error message "Failed to execute unregister action. Resource [id] not found." is seen in Aria Automation 8.16 and earlier versions when trying to unregister a VM that has been in a "missing" state for more than 30 days.

The unregister option will work on VMs listed as "missing" for less than 30 days.

Environment

Aria Automation 8.16.x and earlier versions.

Cause

Once a VM has been listed as "missing" for over 30 days, some internal records of the VM can be removed from the database which causes the 'unregister' task to fail with this error.

Resolution

Upgrade Aria Automation to version 8.17 or higher. 

VMs listed as "missing" for over 30 days can then be unregistered successfully.
