Issue/Introduction

Operation Failed  : Unable to create base virtual disk '[DS_NAME]XXXXXX/XXXXXX.vmdk' for primary virtual disk with key 2000.

Environment

vSphere Replication 8.x/9.x

Cause

Encryption key mismatch.

For any type of encrypted VM, both the primary and target sites must have a KMS configured to manage encryption keys. NKP (Native Key Provider )

Resolution

Make sure both sites use common encryption keys.
