  • In vCenter Server, the Health status changed alarm is thrown because vmware-postgres-archiver status changed from green to red in vCenter Server.
  • in /var/log/vmon/vmon.log file, you can see lines similar to:

<timestamp>  Wa(03) host-18157 Service api-health command's stderr: Service health xml file is stale. Current time: 1607568, expiration time: 1607465. Treating service health state RED.

  • In /var/log/message, you can see a backward jump in the timestamps

<DATE>T<HH>:<MM>:<SS> VCENTER_NAME systemd[1]: Stopped Network Time Service.
<DATE>T<HH>:<MM-2>:<SS> VCENTER_NAME sudo: pam_unix(sudo:session): session closed for user root

  • In journalctl, you can see NTP errors similar to:

<timestamp> VCENTER_FQDN ntpd[3088329]: kernel reports TIME_ERROR: 0x2041: Clock Unsynchronized

  • Ensure that the NTP server is functioning properly.
  • Confirm that vCenter is receiving time by issuing the "ntpq -p" command via an SSH session to vCenter.
