Issue/Introduction

Job running ACF2 report ACFRPTSL produces Dump Title ACF79382 Logonids Database Contention

Environment

Product: ACF2

Resolution

The ACF79382 messages indicate potential contention on the ACF2 databases, which could result in performance degradation or hangs in critical security related processes such as Login, dataset or resource accessing etc. These messages identify the jobs that are holding the exclusive ENQs on the ACF2 DBs and report, so you know what’s causing the issue. Additionally, we take a diagnostic SDUMP so we can explain what’s going on.

For example:

At the time of these ACF79382 messages, you have been running the ACFRPTSL utility to extract Logonids information from the online active ACF2 DBs. During the extraction process, the ACFRPTSL utility typically holds an exclusive ENQ on the ACF2 Logon DB for each record until it is extracted. During this time, the job will go into a suspension status while the ACFRPTSL utility is holding the ENQ on the ACF2 Logon DB.

To alleviate this situation, You could consider possibilities of NOT using ACF2 online databases for Logonids extraction process. Please refer to the “INPUT AND REPORT TYPE” section in the following Techdocs link. It explains about types of inputs that can be given to ACFRTPSL utility to extract the logonid information from. Please take a note of the warning text when you selecting ACF2 as input, as this extraction may lead to performance degradation by accessing online ACF2 databases. The alternative to going against online ACF2 DBs (ACF2 option) is to use BKUP.
