Red Banner Error / Unable to update or configure role

Issue/Introduction

When trying to modify a role a red banner error occurs, "An unexpected error has occurred. This could be due to one of the following: 1) Your session timed out and you selected a link that was no longer valid, 2) You used the browser back or forward button placing the system info an inconsistent state, or 3) The system experienced a temporary problem."

When reviewing the localhost logs the following error can be seen:

Source: com.vontu.manager.spring.web.ManagerHandlerExceptionResolver
Message: Unexpected exception while processing request:
Cause:
java.lang.NullPointerExceptionjava.lang.NullPointerException
    at com.vontu.manager.admin.role.RoleManagerService.getModuleActionPermission(RoleManagerService.java:323)

Cause

This is a known issue with 16.0 GA

Resolution

Update to at least 16.0 RU1 for the fix.

Workaround:

Remove all summary and double summary "All Channels" reports and create summaries based on specific incident types.
OR
Switch all summary and double summary "All Channels" reports to not have any summary then users add summarization each time they use the report.
