A customer may observe the same MAC address coming from both VeloCloud edge WAN interfaces in an HA pair, on the upstream switch connected to the edges WAN interfaces, causing MAC flapping alerts on the switch.
High Availability setup.
Software version 4.5.x.
This can be caused by software defect 129359, as described here and in the 5.2.2 release notes:
Symptom: For a customer enterprise site deployed with a High Availability topology, in rare instances the customer may observe that both the Active and Standby Edges are sending out heartbeat packets on their WAN links with the same MAC address.
Description: When encountered, this issue impacts the upstream switch which may send alerts related to two different flows with the same MAC address coming into the switch. The issue can result from a timing condition that results in the Standby Edge's MAC file not being created and then the Standby Edge tries to recover from this by mistakenly updating its interface MAC addresses to match the Active Edges.
Upgrade to software release 5.2.2.x or newer.
As a workaround, rebooting both edges in the HA pair may help.
Otherwise, the standby edge will need to be removed from the HA pair, reset to factory defaults, then added back to HA.
