Issue/Introduction

Increasing IDMS  MAXIMUM TASK in the CV. What other resources do we need to monitor/alert  on?

Environment

Release:19.0

Resolution

Increasing MAX TASKS will increase the number of tasks running concurrently so more resources will be used. Monitor the following resources:

  • storage pools
  • program pools
  • RCEs and RLEs

See documentation section System Performance > Tasks which explains what to look for when increasing or decreasing MAX  TASKS.

Increase tasks gradually, 2 at a time.

If you find too many resources are being used you can use the DCMT VARY ACTIVE TASK MAX TASK command to reduce the number of MAX TASKS.
