VCF Async Patch Tool fails with INVALID_SIGNATURE

Issue/Introduction

Running Async Patch Tool fails with below error

[ERROR] Error verifying signature for manifest file /nfs/vmware/vcf/nfs-mount/apToolBundles/manifests/bundle-xxxx.manifest error INVALID_SIGNATURE

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation 4.x
  • VMware Cloud Foundation 5.x

Cause

A corrupted or outdated manifest and signature files can cause the verification failure.

Resolution

  1. Take a snapshot of SDDC Manager VM
  2. SSH to SDDC Manager with vcf user.
  3. Remove the manifest files as well as the signature files from /nfs/vmware/vcf/nfs-mount/apToolBundles/manifests/ and then re-run: 
    ./vcf-async-patch-tool -e --patch VCENTER:<version and build> --du <E Mail Customer Connect> --sddcSSOUser <SSOuser> --sddcSSHUser vcf --it ONLINE
