Issue/Introduction
Symantec Endpoint Protection(SEP) client does not maintain Existing feature set during upgrade when creating an install package with the settings "Maintain existing client feature when updating".
The same works as expected when "Export packages with policies from the following groups" option and a group is selected.
This has been tested in the lab using 14.3 RU8 and 14.3 RU9 and the same behavior is observed.
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Test 1
Install SEP 14.3 RU8 with installation and feature settings option : Basic protection for Servers Upgrade SEP to 14.3 RU9 using the client package with installation and feature settings option as "Maintain existing client features when updating." and "Export settings configured as "Export a managed client" Results: all features get installed post SEP client upgrade.
Test 2
Install SEP 14.3 RU8 with installation and feature settings option : Basic protection for Servers Upgrade SEP to 14.3 RU9 using the client package with installation and feature settings option as "Maintain existing client features when updating." and "Export settings configured as "Export packages with policies from following groups"
Result: The Basic protection for servers feature were maintained even after upgrading to 14.3 RU9
Environment
14.3 RU8, 14.3 RU9
Resolution
This will be fixed in the upcoming version of SEP. The article will be updated with the version details once the fix is available.
