Issue/Introduction

The SDDC Manager was unable to complete the precheck for the NSX Upgrade and received the following error message from the SDDC Manager.

Description: NSX Upgrade Coordinator precheck

Health Status: ERROR

Error Description: The validator 'nsxt-upgrade-coordinator-validator' did not finish in 1800 seconds and was forcefully terminated

Impact: High: Do not perform upgrade without addressing this issue.

Remediation:Validator evaluation timed out after 1800 seconds. Check the logs and if this issue persists contact VMware support

Log into the NSX Manager and manually run the upgrade check. It was observed that the NSX Manager never completes and remains stuck in the precheck stage.

In the NSX Manager UI, navigate to System => Backup & Restore UI, and observe that it takes over 30 minutes to load the Backup History.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center

VMware NSX

VMware SDDC Manager

Cause

This issue can occur if the NSX Manager Cluster for the Workload domain and the NSX Manager Cluster for the Management domain are configured to use the same SFTP backup directory path in a VCF deployment.

The directory contains a large number of backup files, causing the NSX Manager to take a considerable amount of time to read all the files in the history for both the Workload and Management domains.

Resolution

Try to delete old backup files and also creating separate SFTP backup directory paths for the NSX Manager Cluster for the Workload domain and the NSX Manager Cluster for the Management domain.

This separation helps reduce the number of backup files each NSX Manager Cluster needs to read which improve the Backup and Restore loading page time in NSX Manager.
