Issue/Introduction

Question:

Where is return code 94 (173) documented?

I am using OLREORG for JOBTRAC with CA Datacom/AD 14.0.

Answer:

Return Code 94(173) is currently not documented in CA Datacom/DB Message Reference Guide for 12,0, 14,0 and 15,0.

But it is documented in APAR #: RO61341 which is a release 12.0 APAR, sourced in 14.0 and 15.0.

Title: LOOP DURING OLREORG IN MUF IF CXXMAINT DSOP=4/5 PRECEDES

If a user runs DBUTLTY CXXMAINT=ALTER,DBID=nnnn,DSOP=4 or 5 for the purpose  of being able to use free space in the process of OLREORG for better final

organization and the database is not closed and reopened prior to the next  OLREORG being started, the Multi-User Facility (MUF) may go into a loop.  A

REQABORT is not successful in clearing the looping request.   With this PTF applied, the user will get a DB return code 94(173) REFGROUP

0, DSOP NOT 4/5 in this condition.

Additional Information:

14.0 APAR TR73689 (DB problem 4818) was withdrawn and then re-published as part of RO74874, which then was withdrawn and corrected by RO79724.

In any event, any customer with current maintenance in 14.0 will get this return code and OLREORG will fail if CXXMAINT for DSOP 4/5 was performed

for the OLREORG, but the base was not closed and reopened before the OLREORG was started. The APAR corrects a loop in MUF and issues the return code

instead.

Updating the dictionary for a permanent change to DSOP 4/5 is recommended for anyone wanting to use REFGROUP 0.

Note: CA Datacom/DB  Message Reference Guide will be updated.
