VECO Configuration Error: Can't Remove partner gateway(s) as they are in use: Segment ....

Issue/Introduction

You are attempting to make configuration changes to the Partner Hand off section with "Configure Hand Off" set to "Per Gateway" as found within Global settings > Customer configuration > Gateway pool and you receive an error message that begins with the following text: "Can't Remove partner gateway(s) as they are in use:  Segment". 

The configuration changes are then not saved. 

 

Cause

 

This is occurring because the user is attempting save empty gateway handoff configuration for gateways assigned to the gateway handoff module section of an edge with the "Per Gateway" option as displayed above. This can occur when user only wants to make gateway handoff configuration for certain gateways but not all gateways within the Gateway handoff assignment list. 

Resolution

There are two ways to resolve this

1. make partner gateway handoff configurations for all gateways listed within the Gateway Handoff Assignment Section configured on the edge or edge's profile. 

2. remove the partner gateways that are within the Gateway Handoff Assignment Section that you do not want to make changes for, this section is configured directly on the edge or the edge's profile. 

3. Use the "All Gateways" option in the "Configure Hand Off" section. Before doing so, check if this option aligns with your design. 

Additional Information

The error message will let you know which segment, and which assigned gateways is leading to this error message. You will then need to search for the gateways by checking the edges and the mentioned segment.
