Spectrum 24.3 required package ncurses-compat-libs is not available on RHEL9

Issue/Introduction

For DX NetOps Spectrum 24.3, ncurses-compat-libs is a required package but is not available on RHEL9 main repository.  

# dnf install -y ncurses-compat-libs

Error: Unable to find a match: ncurses-compat-libs

Environment

Any Linux 9 variant such as RHEL 9 or Rocky 9.

This OS is only supported on 24.3 and greater.

Cause

The ncurses-compat-libs package is deprecated in RHEL 8 and it is removed in RHEL 9.

 

 

Resolution

3rd party repositories such as EPEL can be used to source this package with the following steps:

1. dnf config-manager --set-enabled crb
2. dnf install epel-release
3. dnf install -y ncurses-compat-libs
