Issue/Introduction

• In Cloud Director the takeownership API call will not transfer ownership of disks attached to running VMs.
• The takeownsership API call transfers ownership to system.
• You need to transfer ownership of disks from an expired user to system.

Cause

• Third party software or internal company policies has expired user accounts in Cloud Director resulting in the need to transfer ownership of this users disks to the system user.

 

Resolution

• Follow the steps to transfer ownership in this KB: Take Control of a User's Objects
• To transfer ownership of disks attached to running VMs, please open a case with Support as DB interaction is needed.
