NSX: External interfaces on Tier0 in Active_Standby mode cannot use more than 2 edge nodes (Error code: 503117)

Issue/Introduction

• Cluster is configured with 2 Edge nodes
• T0 within the cluster is configured in Active Standby
• A 3rd Edge is added to the cluster and an attempt is made to configure the T0 uplinks
• This action fails with: 

External interfaces on Tier0 in Active_Standby mode cannot use more than 2 edge nodes (Error code: 503117)

Environment

Cause

Active Standby T0 supports 2 Edges only

Resolution

This is working as designed.

If more than 2 Edges are required then an Active Active T0 may be more suitable.
