Issue/Introduction

  • The symptom is: virtual machine's ancestor folder name in Aria Operations cannot match the parent folder name in vCenter Server inventory. For example:
    • "VM-In-2-01" is in folder "VM-Folder-Level-2-01" in vCenter Server inventory;
    • In Aria Operations' list, "VM-In-2-01"'s ancestor folder is "VM-Folder-Level-1"

  • The issue can happen when custom attributes are configured on VM's folder in vCenter Server, while the ancestor folder's attribute is added in Aria Operations' list:

    1. "Virtual Machine" is the "Selected Subject"
    2. "Virtual Machine Folder" is selected
    3. "Add Object Name" option is selected
    4. Custom attribute is added into the list

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18

Resolution

This is resolved in an upcoming release of Aria Operations.
