Issue/Introduction

We are utilizing the CA 2E CM tool for managing the application development cycle. Currently, we need to transfer an object being modified by one developer to another. On the Implementer screen, we employ the "7 = Lock Detail" option from the Workbench to switch the user profile from the previous holder of the lock to a different developer, in this instance, <TESTUser>. However, the CM tool indicates, "User <TESTUser> does not have authority to model object list xyzqz." We are unable to locate an option (or Y* command) to modify the authority.

Environment

Release 8.7+

Components: CA 2E

Cause

The target user lacks model object level authority.

Resolution

To transfer the lock to another user, the recipient must have authority over the model object list where the related object is checked out. This authority is granted by the Implementer, and there is no global default setting for this.

Here's how to set the model object list level authority:

  • a) Navigate to the "CA 2E CM Menu".
  • b) Choose option 42 - Environments.
  • c) Select the environment where the object is checked out.
  • d) Opt for "15=User Capabilities" within that environment.
  • e) Choose "7=CA 2E capabilities" for the user receiving the lock.
  • f) Press "F19=Model list authority" on the "Change CA 2E User Capabilities" screen to reach the "Work with Model Object List Authorities" screen.
  • g) The default setting will be 'N' unless the change list/model object list was created by the user in question. For the required model list, select option 2 to grant authority and change the setting to 'Y'.

After these steps, the lock transfer should be feasible.
