Issue/Introduction

The purpose of this article is to inform customers that Broadcom will be switching the host cloud provider from AWS to GCP.

NTICs relies on specific URLs for various functionalities, including data downloads and API communication. To ensure uninterrupted service, these URLs must be whitelisted in your network environment.

Environment

NSX Intrusion Detection and Prevention Services (IDPS)

Cause

NTICs is switching the host cloud provider from AWS to GCP. In such a scenario, customers using NSX IDPS prior to NSX 3.2.0 will have to whitelist Google Cloud Platform in the firewall policies

Resolution

Customers configuring the firewall by whitelisting any URLs as a standard best practice, please ensure to whitelist Google Cloud Platform (storage.googleapis.com) in the firewall policies

Note: This applies only to NSX versions 3.0 - 3.1.x where the download links were sent directly from AWS S3. No change is required for NSX versions 3.2.x and above where the download links will continue to be from "vmware.com" domain name.

Firewall Rules: When configuring the firewall, ensure that the rules allow outbound connections to the specified domains on the necessary ports (typically port 443 for HTTPS traffic).

Proxy Servers: If you are using a proxy server, ensure that it is configured to allow connections to the whitelisted URLs.
