After upgrading to Harvest v14.5, a user is trying to login to Workbench and the login screen is asking for a certificate rather than the expected userid and password fields.
What is this new field and how can the user switch back to userid and password login instead?
Harvest Software Change Manager v14.5 and up
A new feature that was introduced with Harvest v14.5 allows integration with another Broadcom product called Embedded Entitlement Manager (EEM). This integration allows the users to login to Harvest using a certificate rather than the standard user credentials always used in the past. More information about this new feature can be found here:
Certificate-based Authentication Enabled through EEM
Administrate Certificate-Based Authentication
Use Certificate-based Authentication with CA Harvest SCM
Once this feature is successfuly configured, users can take advantage of this new authentication method by going to Tools and Preferences in Workbench and checking these checkboxes:
Enable Broker login with certificate
Enable Agent login with certificate
To revert back to authenticating the traditional way using userid and password credentials, in Workbench go to Tools and Preferences and uncheck these checkboxes.
After unchecking these checkboxes, and attempting to login the traditional way, you may encounter an error like this:
E0202011d: Authentication operation failed: Strong(er) authentication required.
In this case, it is possible some leftovers from the certificate-based authentication settings remain in your .cascm folder. To resolve this, close Workbench, delete the "C:\Users\<userid>\.cascm" folder, then reopen Workbench. You should then be able to login with userid and password as before.
