Issue/Introduction

  • One or more objects are in "Not collecting" state and the parent adapter instance is in collecting state.
  • One or more objects are in "Unknown" or "Stopping" state, and other objects and the parent adapter instance is in a collecting state.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Resolution

For Aria Operations version 8.17.x and below, please follow the below steps:

  • On the left pane, click Environment -> Inventory
  • Expand the Adapter Instances category and then Expand the affected adapter type of the parent adapter of the affected object(s).
  • Select the parent adapter of the affected object(s).
  • In the Search Filter enter the name of the affected object(s).
  • Verify the collecting state of the object is "Not collecting", "Unknown" or "Stopping".
    • If the collecting state is "Collecting" it may indicate the affected object is being collected by another parent adapter.
    • Unselect the parent adapter and verify if the affected object is listed with multiple entries.
  • Select the affected object(s) by left-clicking and then click Start Collecting (play icon).
    • To select multiple objects at once you can hold Shift to select multiple objects in a row or hold CTRL to select multiple individual objects.

For Aria Operations version 8.18.x and above, please follow the below steps:

  • On the left pane, click Operations -> Configurations > Inventory Management
    • Expand the Adapter Instances category and then Expand the affected adapter type of the parent adapter of the affected object(s).
    • Select the parent adapter of the affected object(s).
    • In the Search Filter enter the name of the affected object(s).
    • Verify the collecting state of the object is "Not collecting", "Unknown" or "Stopping".
      • If the collecting state is "Collecting" it may indicate the affected object is being collected by another parent adapter.
      • Unselect the parent adapter and verify if the affected object is listed with multiple entries.
    • Select the affected object(s) by left-clicking and then click Start Collecting (play icon).
      • To select multiple objects at once you can hold Shift to select multiple objects in a row or hold CTRL to select multiple individual objects.
