Issue/Introduction

I want to alarm on cpu aggregation using CDM, but I only see IIS listed. Why can't I find CDM in the list. The robot has CDM probe installed and collecting data. I can find the data just fine in metric viewer, and prd and dashboards.

I have the following probes installed, CDM, IIS and VMWARE

Environment

  • DX UIM 20.4 and above

Cause

MCS is designed for monitoring the metrics you want. You select the template you want, and it collects the QOS.

You do not need to know what probe is monitoring the QOS.

It turns out that IIS, CDM, and VMWare collect the same CPU QOS, and they have the same qos object name.

Just like with MCS, you do not need to know the specific probe. In the above case, all three probes collect the same QOS, so you do not need to look specifically for CDM. You can use the IIS version if that is all you can find in the list that contains the metrics you want to alert on.

IIS, CDM and VMware cpu qos are identical and interchangeable when it comes to creating an alarm profile.

Resolution

This is working as designed/expected.
