Issue/Introduction

The Aria Operations cloud proxy deployed via Aria Suite Lifecycle (LCM) has a name of CloudProxy-<GUID> in all UIs (where <GUID> is a random 32 hexadecimal character value.) The child adapters of the cloud proxy also have CloudProxy-<GUID> in their names. This makes it difficult to determine which cloud proxy is which. Is it possible to rename them?

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x
VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.x

Cause

The scale out workflow for Aria Operations in LCM does not provide the ability to set the Friendly Name

Resolution

Option 1

Note: Using Option 1 will rename the cloud proxy only within the Aria Operations product UI. The child adapters and the admin UI will continue to contain the original CloudProxy-<GUID> name.

  1. Navigate to Administration > Cloud Proxies in Aria Operations
  2. Click on the Name column of the cloud proxy to be renamed to expand the details pane
  3. Click on the Edit button (pencil icon) next to the cloud proxy name in the details pane
  4. Change the name of the cloud proxy to the desired value and click save.

Option 2

Note: Option 2 will rename the cloud proxy and child adapters in all UIs, but requires redeploying the appliance.

  1. Navigate to Administration > Cloud Proxies in Aria Operations
  2. Click the vertical 3 dots button next to the cloud proxy to be removed
  3. Select Delete
  4. Read the warning in the dialog and click Accept
  5. Use the steps in Configuring Cloud Proxies in VMware Aria Operations to re-deploy the cloud proxy

Note: Verify that the Friendly Name is set to the desired value when customizing the OVF template
