Unable to send SNMP alerts to Microsoft SCOM

Issue/Introduction

The Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) needs to discover the Aria Operations appliance before it will allow SNMP alerts to be sent, but the discovery is not working.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

Aria Operations does not monitor or respond to incoming SNMP GET requests which is the primary method that SCOM uses to discover SNMP endpoints.

Aria Operations can only send SNMP traps using the SNMP outbound method.

Resolution

Use an alternate discovery method in SCOM that does not require SNMP GET.
