Issue/Introduction

Administrator is unable to log in to SSP appliance using Radius authentication. Packet capture shows that authentication was rejected by Radius. In SSH window you get an error about failed authentication.

Environment

  • SSP appliance running 2.4.3.1 or later
  • Password configured on Radius server contains $ special character
  • test authentication using below command works fine:
    (config-authentication)# edit realm <realm_name> test-authentication

Cause

$ special character is supported, but it must be escaped with the backslash character (\) when entering the password.

Resolution

Remove $ character from the password or include backlash character when entering the password.
