Issue/Introduction

After reviewing the MSIEXEC log, the DLP Detection Server failed to complete the install successfully.

Error received on install: Symantec Data Loss Prevention 16.1.00000 Detection Server -- Error 1920. Service 'Symantec DLP Enforce Connector Service' (SymantecDLPEnforceConnectorService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Cause

Check the Symantec DLP Enforce Connector Service log for startup for these memory related errors:

There is insufficient memory for the Java Runtime Environment to continue.
Native memory allocation (malloc) failed to allocate 32744 bytes for ChunkPool::allocate
The JVM process terminated due to an uncaught exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM warning: Attempt to allocate stack guard pages failed.
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM warning: Attempt to unguard stack red zone failed.

Resolution

Review available system RAM and ensure minimum system requirements are met.
Once available RAM is increased to the required level, restart the Symantec DLP Enforce Connector Service.
