Issue/Introduction

% Processor Time for a lsass process (ad_server probe) is showing utilization crossed as 100%. User want to know how the value is being calculated.

Environment

Resolution

The probe will directly fetch the Processor Time for the lsass process from the Windows performance counters under the Processor category, and it will not perform any calculations on the performance counter.

The reason for showing values over 100% is that, on systems with multiple CPU cores, the performance counters aggregate processor usage across all cores. For example, if lsass is using 30% of each core’s processing power on a 4-core system, the counter can display a value up to 120% (30% per core * 4 cores).
