Issue/Introduction

Unable to launch Real-Time-Grapher

When adding Agent into the UI in Real-Time-Grapher, the following error is seen

"An error occurred selecting agent x.x.x.x:161:Invalid agent selected!."

Environment

Watch4net/MnR -  7.X.X

Resolution

Verify the below details to see if the generate files has the agent name;

  • Device discovery page should have the agent discovered successfully.
  • On collector manager host, the agent should be seen in this file agents-groups.xml (path : /opt/APG/Collecting/SNMP-Collector/<collector-instance>/conf/agents-groups.xml)
  • On front end the agent name should be visible in this file <collector-name>-snmp-polling-distribution.xml (path: /opt/APG/Custom/WebApps-Resources/Default/device-discovery/<collector-instance>/generated/CiscoCUCMCollector-snmp-polling-distribution.xml)
  • Make sure the <distribution-file-path> attribute has the right path to the generated snmp-polling-distrubution.xml in agents.xml file (e.g. path:  /opt/APG/Custom/WebApps-Resources/Default/device-discovery/<collector-instance>/generated). Incase if you are making changes to this file, please restart the respective collector manager and Tomcat service.

./manage-modules service restart <service name>

You can find agents.xml on Frontend server on this path - /opt/APG/Custom/WebApps-Resources/Default/real-time-grapher

Note: When we add the devices in SNMP-Discovery page , the agents-groups.xml will be updated i.e Collector Manager server and when we perform distribute and send generated configuration steps, the snmp-polling-distribution.xml will get updated under generated directory i.e in Frontend server.
