Failed with exit code 256 error encountered when upgrading VMware Cloud Director 10.x with the CDROM mounted

Issue/Introduction

• An upgrade of VMware Cloud Director 10.x fails and an error similar to the following is found in the file /opt/vmware/var/log/vami/updatecli.log:

• During the update, errors similar to the following are seen in /opt/vmware/var/log/vami/updatecli.log:

error: filesystem-1.1-4.ph3.x86_64: install failed
  
  and

• The VMware Cloud Director appliance has the CDROM mounted.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

When an upgrade of the VMware Cloud Director 10.x appliance includes an update for the filesystem package for the system, attempts to unpack and install the package interact with /mnt/cdrom and will fail if an item is mounted at that location.

Resolution

Unmount the CDROM and perform the upgrade as documented:
