Issue/Introduction

ESXi hosts experience psods in the environment.

PF Exception 14 in world ********:vmkmgmt_keyv 

 

Environment

VMware ESXi 7x
VMware ESXi 8x

Cause

This is a known issue with some older versions of Emulex lpfc driver/firmware.

Whilst log bundle is generating following is called '/usr/lib/vmware/vmkmgmt_keyval/vmkmgmt_keyval' if NMVMe support is disabled in lpfc crash occurs.

Resolution

Workaround:

1. Run the following command on ESXi host followed by a reboot
   esxcli system module parameters set -a -m lpfc -p lpfc_enable_fc4_type=3

Permanent fix:

Upgrade lpfc driver to a version >= 14.0.622.0
